What's True About These Thoughts

You're not the only one

Thoughts about dying are far more common than people realise, and having them doesn't mean you're going to act on them.

It comes in waves

For most people these thoughts are worse at some hours and easier at others. Getting through the wave matters, and the wave does pass.

Wanting something to stop

People rarely want to die so much as they want pain or exhaustion to end. That distinction matters, because situations change.

Saying it out loud helps

Telling one person — a sibling, a friend, a cousin — is one of the most protective things there is. You don't need the right words.

What's underneath is treatable

These thoughts usually sit on top of depression, trauma or a situation that feels stuck. All of those can be worked on.

It doesn't stay like this

Most people who come through a suicidal period go on to live full lives. That isn't a platitude; it's what the evidence shows.

Ask directly

"Are you thinking about ending your life?" Asking does not plant the idea — that's a myth.

It usually comes as a relief to be asked plainly.

Listen without fixing

Resist the urge to argue them out of it or list reasons to live.

Being heard does more than being persuaded.

Don't promise secrecy

You can promise to stay with them. You can't promise not to get help if they're in danger.

It's fair to say that plainly rather than agreeing to something you can't keep.

Stay, and get help

Don't leave them alone if the risk feels immediate.

Growing up around constant shouting, I learned to stay quiet. Even now, loud voices make my chest tighten. Through therapy with Braindost, I realized it was childhood PTSD. Now I’m slowly finding peace.

Small issues grew into long silences. We drifted apart and felt lonely even together. Couples therapy at Braindost helped us open up, listen without defense, and slowly reconnect—building empathy, understanding, and hope again.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions people ask before they book. If yours isn't here, ask us.

Is Braindost a crisis service?

No. Braindost is an online therapy platform with scheduled sessions. If you need someone right now, call Umang on 0311 7786264, free and available 24 hours a day. In an emergency, call 1122.

Will my psychologist tell my family?

Sessions are confidential. The exception is where there's a serious and immediate risk to your life — your psychologist will explain exactly what that means at the start, and would talk to you before taking any step.

What if I'm not sure I want help?

That's a very normal way to feel, and it isn't a reason to stay quiet. You can call a helpline just to talk, without having decided anything.

Can therapy help with thoughts like this?

Yes. Suicidal thoughts usually sit on top of something treatable — depression, trauma, or a situation that feels impossible. Both the thoughts and what's underneath them can be worked on.

How much is a session, and how do I pay?

Each psychologist sets their own fee and session length — you'll see theirs on their booking page before confirming. Sessions start from PKR 1,499. Payment is online, by card, Easypaisa or JazzCash.

Can I choose my psychologist?

Yes. Browse the profiles, read how each one works, and book whoever feels right. If it isn’t the right fit, you can switch.

What if the thoughts come back between sessions?

That can happen, and it doesn’t mean therapy isn’t working. Your psychologist will help you put a plan in place for those moments. Umang is free and answers 24 hours a day on 0311 7786264.
