Why Therapy for OCD Matters

The thoughts are not the problem

Almost everyone has intrusive thoughts. In OCD, the difficulty is the meaning attached to them — and that's what therapy works on.

Break the relief loop

The compulsion works for a moment and strengthens the whole cycle. Therapy helps you interrupt it.

Stop apologising for it

OCD content is often frightening or embarrassing. A psychologist has heard it before and won't be shocked.

Get your time back

Rituals eat hours. Reducing them returns a genuine amount of your day.

Sit with uncertainty

OCD demands certainty that doesn't exist. Therapy builds tolerance for not knowing.

Involve the people around you

Family often get pulled into providing reassurance. Therapy helps everyone step out of the cycle together.

Types of Therapy for OCD

Group 1261152996.png

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

The most effective treatment for OCD. You face the trigger and don't perform the ritual.

Difficult at first, and it works. Your psychologist builds the steps with you rather than imposing them.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Works on the beliefs underneath — that a thought means something about you, or that you're responsible for preventing harm.

Usually combined with ERP rather than used alone.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Changing your relationship to intrusive thoughts rather than trying to remove them.

Helpful when the content is distressing and fighting it has made things worse.

Habit Reversal Training

For compulsions that have become closer to automatic habits than deliberate rituals.

You learn to notice the urge early and put something else in its place.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions people ask before they book. If yours isn't here, ask us.

What is OCD therapy?

Structured work with a clinical psychologist to reduce compulsions and change how you respond to intrusive thoughts.

My thoughts are disturbing. Will I be judged?

No. Intrusive thoughts in OCD are often violent, sexual or blasphemous, and they're a symptom, not a wish. Psychologists who work with OCD expect this.

Do I have to stop my rituals immediately?

No. ERP works in graded steps that you agree to, starting with what feels manageable.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Some people find a handful of sessions enough; others work over several months. Your psychologist will talk it through after the first session rather than committing you to a package upfront.

How much is a session, and how do I pay?

Each psychologist sets their own fee and session length — you'll see theirs on their booking page before confirming. Sessions start from PKR 1,499. Payment is online, by card, Easypaisa or JazzCash.

Can I choose my psychologist?

Yes. Browse the profiles, read how each one works, and book whoever feels right. If it isn't the right fit, you can switch.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Sessions are private between you and your psychologist. The limited exceptions — where there's a risk to your safety or someone else's — are the same ones that apply to therapy anywhere.
