Grief & Loss Counselling in Pakistan

Grief has no schedule and doesn't move in stages the way people say. Some days are ordinary and some arrive without warning. Talking to someone doesn't take the loss away — it makes carrying it less lonely.

Why Therapy for Grief & Loss Matters

No timeline

Nobody will tell you it's been long enough. Grief takes what it takes.

Say their name

Many people find others avoid mentioning the person. A session is a place where you can talk about them freely.

Grief isn't only sadness

Anger, relief, guilt and numbness are all part of it. Knowing that helps when your reaction surprises you.

Carry it differently

Grief doesn't disappear. It changes shape, and therapy helps that happen rather than getting stuck.

Handle the hard days

Anniversaries, birthdays, empty chairs. Planning for them makes them survivable.

When it's complicated

Sudden loss, a difficult relationship, or a death you couldn't grieve openly — these need more support, and that's normal.

Types of Therapy for Grief & Loss

Group 1261152996.png

Grief-Focused CBT

Working on the thoughts that keep grief stuck — guilt, self-blame, unfinished conversations.

Useful when grief has become complicated rather than simply painful.

Complicated Grief Treatment

A specific approach for grief that hasn't shifted after a long period.

Combines revisiting the loss with re-engaging in life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Making room for the grief rather than trying to resolve it.

Fits the reality that some losses aren't meant to be got over.

Supportive Counselling

A steady, regular space to talk without an agenda.

Sometimes what's needed isn't a technique — it's someone who keeps showing up.

Braindost Stories

look at the minds we’ve brought into the light!

S., 22 Lahore

Walking into class or speaking up used to make my heart race and mind go blank. Reading Braindost’s blog, I realized it was social anxiety. Therapy felt like a hopeful step. It helped me speak up and finally feel like myself around others.

Growing up around constant shouting, I learned to stay quiet. Even now, loud voices make my chest tighten. Through therapy with Braindost, I realized it was childhood PTSD. Now I’m slowly finding peace.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions people ask before they book. If yours isn't here, ask us.

What is grief counselling?

A space to talk about someone you've lost, and about what their absence has changed, without being hurried.

How long should grief last?

There's no correct length. What matters is whether it's still stopping you from functioning after a long period — that's when extra support helps.

What if it's been years?

Grief can stay stuck for a long time, particularly where the loss was sudden or the relationship complicated. It's never too late.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Some people find a handful of sessions enough; others work over several months. Your psychologist will talk it through after the first session rather than committing you to a package upfront.

How much is a session, and how do I pay?

Each psychologist sets their own fee and session length — you'll see theirs on their booking page before confirming. Sessions start from PKR 1,499. Payment is online, by card, Easypaisa or JazzCash.

Can I choose my psychologist?

Yes. Browse the profiles, read how each one works, and book whoever feels right. If it isn't the right fit, you can switch.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Sessions are private between you and your psychologist. The limited exceptions — where there's a risk to your safety or someone else's — are the same ones that apply to therapy anywhere.
