Making Mental Wellness Easy

Types of Therapy for Trauma

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT works to identify and alter the negative thought patterns. It focuses on current challenges. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are interconnected. A change in one of them can affect the other two. It helps you to identify this connection and understand their impact on you.

You learn how intrusive memories of your trauma shape your emotions and actions. Then it works to replace distorted thoughts with healthy ways of thinking.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Trauma survivors often avoid reminders of their past trauma, such as places, people, or events. But in prolonged exposure treatment, you are exposed to your past traumatic event and its reminders in a secure and controlled setting.

This exposure allows you to regain control of your negative emotions and develop coping abilities. The acute emotional influence of trauma triggers fades over time, resulting in stable mental health.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR therapy differs from regular conversation therapy. It employs bilateral stimulation to analyze traumatic memories.

It includes recalling your trauma experiences while moving your eyes in a certain pattern, usually in accordance with your therapist's hand movement.

It relieves emotional distress without requiring deep conversation therapy and is especially helpful for single-incident trauma.
